Peterborough Hospital Abseil Raises A Spook-tacular £30,000!

At the very start of November, Big Bang Experiences teamed up with North West Anglia Hospitals’ Charity, in Peterborough, to deliver a particularly fun two days of Abseiling!

This charitable event had an incredible turnout - over 100 patients, staff, and supporters came together to raise well over £30,000! This astonishing result reflects the hard work and determination of everyone involved.

As this abseil fell on Halloween weekend, it was only fitting to have a slightly spooky theme weaved through the event. This began with the name, ‘Dare To Descend’ and was carried through until the end, when brave participants were handed a ‘Con-drac-ulations’ certificate!

The two-day event, sponsored by EPD Insulation Group and Yours Clothing, saw a huge array of costumes and mascots abseiling as part of the ‘Dare You Descend’ celebrations. Spectators saw a Mario & Luigi duo cruising down the side of the hospital building, as well as a lion and elephant mascot pair!

The tremendous fundraising efforts of the day will go towards supporting the Cancer Wellbeing Service, located in the Peterborough City Hospital. Established for over 30 years, this much-needed service offers a range of talking therapies, lifestyle, and welfare advice, as well as arts & crafts classes. Trained therapists deliver therapies like Acupuncture, Rekhi, and Reflexology. On top of these services, Beauty Therapists provide ‘Look Good, Feel Better’ courses, to boost confidence levels through the difficult treatment periods.

The charity kept supporters and spectators up to date via Facebook, regularly posting the stories of those completing the challenge throughout the few days, as well as keeping tabs on the ever-growing fundraising efforts!
