Abseil For Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust Fundraises An Impressive £42,000!

In 2023, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust went all out to kick off the celebrations for their hospital’s 30th anniversary. Big Bang set up an abseil down the side of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, and was undertaken by 53 brave members of staff from all corners of the organisation. 

Among these were some particularly prestigious members of staff, including the Hospital Medical Director, Deputy CEO, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.

In just one day, this abseil for the NHS Trust pulled in a momentous £42,000, with more donations expected to come in during the following days. Across just 53 participants, this is an incredible figure and one that will be hugely beneficial to the Trust.

CW+ is marking the 30th birthday of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital by launching its most ambitious fundraising campaign to date. Over the next three years, Thirty at Thirty aims to raise £30m to support Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the ongoing delivery of outstanding care to the communities it serves. The funds raised will help both our hospital sites by creating world-class facilities, driving innovation and research, and enhancing patient and staff wellbeing.

Nikita Smith, the Trust’s fundraising officer said

‘I wanted to say a massive thank you to you and your team for a wonderful event yesterday – it ran so smoothly and everyone was delighted all round. It was also great to have a little abseil myself! I look forward to working with you again. I’m already hearing demands for a repeat next year!’

The success of this event is a prime example of what can be made possible by these challenge-fundraiser events. These abseils do an amazing job of uniting communities, staff members and sponsors, and boost morale amongst an organisation. Staff at this hospital were able to raise over £42,000 in just one day - an achievement indicative of their commitment to the cause and excitement around the event.
